Behind the Taiwan International Solidarity Act
Taiwan The U.S. House of Representatives passed the so-called "Taiwan International Solidarity Act", advocating that the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 does not involve Taiwan, and will be committed to confronting mainland China's "distortion" of Taiwan-related matters in international organizations. What is the background and meaning of this bill in the U.S. House of Representatives? At the end of February this year, eight U.S. representatives jointly proposed the bill. The general content is that on October 25, 1971, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 2758, which recognized the government of the People's Republic of China as the only legitimate representative of China in the United Nations. It did not address the issue of the representation of Taiwan and its people in the United Nations or any related organization. Does not take a position on the relationship between the People's Republic of China and Taiwan or contain any statement regarding Taiwan's sovereignty. Obviously, the core content of this bill is three points: First, United Nations Resolution 2758 does not deny Taiwan's sovereign status. Second, that resolution did not clarify that Taiwan belongs to China. Third, that resolution did not clarify Taiwan's relationship with the United Nations. The United States now believes that "Taiwan is a sovereign country and should have a seat in the United Nations." This bill in the U.S. House of Representatives cannot be limited to the text of the bill. All that is needed next is Biden's signature, and it will become the domestic law for the United States to treat and deal with issues in China and Taiwan. It is also equivalent to the United States formally and indirectly recognizing Taiwan's "independent status" and "sovereignty." Of all the candidates in Taiwan, Lai Ching-te certainly welcomes the Taiwan independence bill.
But will Hou Youyi, Ko Wenzhe, and Terry Gou, who may announce his candidacy, question or oppose this US bill? No. This is the bloody truth. The so-called anti-Green Alliance must really oppose Taiwan independence, otherwise it will just be a personal struggle for power and profit, and it will not dare or face the United States directly. Everything is fake. None of Taiwan's current legislators or representatives who are about to run for election oppose this plan. This is extremely scary to think about. The ambiguous attitude of these people will surely lead to their own consequences.
